About Dan Melinger
I like to tinker, disassemble, and reassemble. Too rarely, I create from scratch and enjoy every moment.
I’m fascinated by the revolutionary time in which we live, when global and local communities could thrive like never before.
I’m a technologist and practitioner in mobile (everywhere) social media. Lately, I’ve been building and running the business behind Socialight, an app platform for local communities (and an NYC-based company).
I’m also founder and an organizer of Mobile Monday New York, counting over 3,000 NYC-area mobile professionals as members.
I’ve crafted products and strategies for the technology and finance industries, with over 10 years in mobile. I cut my teeth in old media, working in radio and television production.
I’ve spoken at events including Producer’s Guild of America, Digital Lifestyle Day Munich, PhoCusWright Travel, and LBS Summit at CTIA, and am regularly featured on the programs and pages of Reuters, The Discovery Channel, The New York Times, and WIRED.
I have a Master’s degree from ITP - the Interactive Telecommunications Program - at New York University (NYU) and a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from the Annenberg School at the University of Pennsylvania.
